Why does your soap need saving? Soap Saver Types

Save your Soap with a Soap Saver or Dish

My soap does not last long in the shower. This is something that we all know but are often powerless to change… If you dont know how.

Soap savers or as some may know them a soap dish, is designed to keep your soap safe. Often we think of the soap dish as the place to keep your soap so as to avoid it slipping and sliding all over the place and avoid having to clean up soft melted soap

Soap savers do exactly what their name implies, they save your soap. What does this mean? Simply put a good soap dish or soap saver, has a few characteristics that you should know about.

1. Breathability

A soap dish that breathes??? No not breath as in alive but allows air to flow between the actual soap and the dish. This can be seen easily with soap dishes with a self drain or grooves to allow soapy water to drain away from the actual soap. This air flow allows the soap to dry faster hence saving precious milligrams of soap. They add up over time.

2. Drainage

As a part of breathability, drainage is a factor that is not as important but if you can find soap saver and soap dishesone with good drainage of sudsy water from the soap dish even better. These types of dishes would have a sort of spout that leads suds and water back into the tub or basin. They are often better than closed soap dishes because a closed dish can be a pain to clean out all that dries soap and suds

3. Size

soap saver and soap dishesDoes size matter? well it does when it comes to the size of your soap and also the size of your family. If you have multiple people using the same bathroom you know how crowded your soap dish can get. In this case it may be best to have a larger soap saver. If however you dont have much people using your bathroom then a smaller more economical saver may be best and lets face it a smaller one is easier to clean than a larger one.

4. Easy to clean

Cleaning your soap dish and your soap savers. A hard soap dish made from wood, soap saver and soap dishesbamboo, porcelain or other material may be able to drain moisture easier but it will develop soap scum sooner or later. To clean this type of dish usually some warm to hot water and a cloth is all you will need. There are some that may be a little bit stubborn but nothing a little elbow grease cant fix. On the other hand if you have cloth or sponge soap saver its as easy as wetting it and squeezing any excess soap or suds out of the soap saver.

Bahamas Soap Maker

Rashad has been making soaps since the inception of Bahamas Candle and Soap in 2008. Since this time he has taught a number of students how make homemade soap using the melt and pour process or the cold process of soap making. His preference is cold process soap making because of the versatility you have in designing not only the ingredients but the aesthetics of the soap. Soap making became more than a hobby for Rashad and he loves trying new techniques and teaching others how they too can make their own soap at home.
